Challenge
AT&T needed a comprehensive, turnkey solution to deliver high-performance broadband and Wi-Fi across diverse multi-dwelling units (MDUs), all under a consistent brand and with minimal operational overhead. The approach had to accommodate varying property layouts, ensure reliable connectivity for residents, and remain flexible enough for future expansions or integrations.
Results
By embedding WiBUZ’s wibipOS into Commscope’s hosted framework, AT&T achieved rapid, zero-touch deployments, delivering stable, high-speed Wi-Fi and seamless branding at each property. This API-driven, multi-tenant architecture gives AT&T a scalable platform that supports advanced features and real-time analytics—boosting resident satisfaction and enabling ongoing innovation in the MDU market.

AT&T Business
AT&T Business is a division of AT&T Inc. that provides a variety of services and products for businesses, including Managed WiFi as a Service
AT&T Business serves nearly 2.5 million customers, including small businesses, government agencies, and the largest global companies.
The Need: Building a TurnKey Wi-Fi Experience for MDUs
AT&T, a major telco, needed a comprehensive, turnkey solution to deliver robust wired and wireless broadband services in multi-dwelling units (MDUs), such as apartments, mixed-use complexes, and student housing. These properties often require high-performance connectivity for both private residences and shared amenities. Residents expect 10–50 Mbps per device as a baseline, making reliable, fast Wi-Fi as crucial as any other utility.
The Challenges
- Shared Infrastructure, High Expectations
MDU tenants demand stable, high-speed connectivity. However, each property has a unique layout, capacity needs, and density challenges that complicate traditional network deployments. - Bulk Connectivity at Scale
AT&T sought a partner capable of delivering a complete solution—covering everything from in-unit coverage to public areas—while maintaining a consistent user experience. - Brand & Integration Requirements
The solution had to be white-labeled under AT&T’s brand, but it still incorporated advanced features and remained ready for future expansions, such as additional IoT or property management integrations.
As a reseller for WiBUZ, CommScope leveraged WiBUZ’s core platform and engineering expertise to fulfill AT&T’s stringent requirements. From behind the scenes, WiBUZ provided the single-pane-of-glass, multi-tenant management system, plus an API-first architecture to support new hardware and software integrations with minimal disruption.
WiBUZ’s Live SDK team was key to the collaboration, embedded with Commscope’s service delivery. This allowed rapid feature development, continuous customizations, and a Dynamic Roadmap approach. It ensured that whenever AT&T needed a new integration or a tailored feature, the turnaround time was quick, bypassing typical vendor gatekeeping.
Solution Highlights
- Single Pane of Glass & Multi-Tenant Architecture
WiBUZ’s platform gave Commscope a consolidated dashboard to manage multiple MDU properties—each with unique Wi-Fi, wired, and user-segmentation needs. This simplified network oversight and made adding or removing services on a property-by-property basis easy. - Live SDK & On-Demand Customizations
AT&T frequently requested new features or optimizations to accommodate property owners’ evolving needs. The Live SDK team from WiBUZ closely coordinated with Commscope’s product teams, enabling real-time updates and ensuring that AT&T could promise (and deliver) rapid customizations. - API-First, Modular Design
The solution is integrated seamlessly with third-party tools, such as billing platforms, tenant management systems, and property management software. Because WiBUZ’s architecture is modular, every new integration or update is rolled out without disrupting existing workflows or requiring a complete system overhaul. - Dynamic Roadmap for Permissionless Innovation
Commscope, on behalf of AT&T, could push out enhancements as soon as they were ready—without waiting on a vendor-dictated update cycle. This “permissionless innovation” model let AT&T stay ahead of tenant expectations and market trends.
The CommScope Advantage, Powered by WiBUZ
- Rapid Deployment & Scalability
The MDU solution was deployed faster thanks to preconfigured integration templates and streamlined provisioning—making it easier for AT&T to go live immediately with new properties. - Custom-Branded Portals & Unified Dashboard
AT&T’s brand was prominent among tenants, while Commscope managed daily operations. Under the hood, WiBUZ’s single-pane-of-glass approach provided advanced performance monitoring, user analytics, and proactive alerts. - Reduced Operational Overhead
Both the property owners and AT&T’s support teams experienced fewer connectivity complaints. When issues did arise, the Live SDK team at WiBUZ tackled them directly—eliminating multi-vendor back-and-forth. - Flexible, Future-Ready Model
Adding new MDU properties or integrating new services (e.g., IoT or property-wide security solutions) no longer required external vendor permission. AT&T and CommScope controlled their roadmap, speeding up updates and maintaining a competitive edge.
Results & Takeaways
By tapping WiBUZ’s platform and embedded engineering resources, Commscope delivered a best-in-class MDU connectivity service to AT&T with rapid turn-ups, an intuitive management experience, and a fully API-driven, scalable framework that meets the demands of modern living environments.
